On this page are some samples of the curriculum I have created. They are loosely categorised on a 'case study' basis. Material for the lessons is downloadable and comes in the formats - Scorecloud link - midi track, score etc. I use scorecloud extensively. Examples of content can be viewed by clicking the scorecloud button on the left, below EPTA, Google, Youtube etc. Pdf of keyboard graphic Dropbox link. Mp3 tracks - Dropbox link. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Example 01. Sus 4 chords. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Case Study: D.J./Producer. Topic: Sus 4 chords. Sus 4 - minor chord I, Sus 4 - Major chord I. Previous study includes: Chord inversions, Primary chords, II,V,I sequence, Cycle of 5ths ... Overview: The sus 4 chord is a type of Dominant chord (V chord). The sus. refers to the suspended 4th which replaces the 3rd. The chord still 'tries' to be a Dominant chord and pull towards chord I. However, lacking the 3rd means it sounds ambiguous - neither major nor minor. Also, since the 4th is not resolving to the 3rd the chord also sounds transitory. For this reason, the chord is popular with dance producers and samplers as it can be moved easily without sounding forced.
